Sylvie is an award-winning director, producer, writer, director of photography, and editor with 15 years of creative, technical, and collaborative expertise in film, television, and media production. She has written, directed, and produced a variety of films ranging from documentaries to artistic performances, from television series to educational media. With the help of gifted collaborators and advanced production technology, her films have reached a wide range of distribution venues: movie theatres, television, universities, video libraries, and the web.
A passionate and compassionate multi-talented filmmaker, Sylvie brings an eclectic background to her art of visual storytelling. She is a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, raised by French and Italian parents who were born in Egypt. Sylvie has made the U.S. her home for the past 20 years and is currently based in Los Angeles, California. She frequently travels worldwide and speaks five languages. Enriched by a multi-cultural background, Sylvie embraces universality in her work and seeks to inspire a global audience.
Sylvie finds her bliss by sharing her creativity with her audience. With every movie, she seeks to imbue the screen with art, rhythm, and heart. By creating stimulating scenes, inspiring messages, and impactful story telling, Sylvie’s mission is to create films that captivate and elevate the human spirit.
As a freelance director of photography, her stunning images have been featured on multiple television networks and film venues. Sylvie’s passion for photography and camera technology leads her to elaborate every shot as a work of art.
She has received the Telly, Aurora, and Communicator Awards, as well as foundation and government grants. She has been actively involved in the filmmaking community, producing documentary workshops, teaching college classes, critiquing films for festivals, and hosting panel discussions.
Sylvie holds a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis on television documentary production from Barry University. She also studied film production at the internationally acclaimed Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
